We match members of the public who need free legal help with barristers who are willing to donate their time and expertise in deserving cases for those who are unable to obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay.
Advocate is the Bar’s national pro bono charity that makes it possible for barristers to balance a dedicated practice with making a significant contribution to the community.

Hear from a Casework Volunteer: Xhesika Leka
Xhesika Leka recently graduated from Oxford University with a law degree and is an aspiring commercial lawyer. Xhesika was a Casework Volunteer with Advocate this year, and she has taken the time to share more about how the volunteering experience has been invaluable in applying and expanding her legal knowledge in practice.
Two Advocate caseworkers secure pupillage
We are delighted that two Advocate caseworkers, Emma and Andrew, have successfully secured pupillage. Emma has secured pupillage at One Pump Court, and Andrew has secured pupillage at Gatehouse Chambers, both starting in October 2025.
